How to wash your face the right way

Updated: Feb 19

To many of us, face washing seems like a pretty simple act that we all have been doing since our early age. However it turns out this task isn’t as mindless as most people tend to believe and requires more effort than splashing some water on your face and slathering on a cleanser.

How to wash your face the right way so that it wouldn't cause dryness, oiliness, irritation and even breakouts to your face?

Here we break down the steps for you!

First, put your hair up and wash your hands!

The easiest way to avoid wet hair when washing your face is to get it out of the way, so smooth your strands into a high, messy bun so they won’t be hanging in the sink. Also, your face is a warm home for bacteria, so wash your hands first, then wash your face to prevent any transfer of bacteria, which can cause acne and skin infections.

Step 1: Wet your face with warm or cool water (hot water is too drying).

Step 2: Apply small dots of the cleanser to your skin. Remember to choose the cleanser which is suitable with your skin type as we mentioned in the previous post. https://skica.me/blog/what-cleanser-is-for-you/

Step 3: Gently massage the cleanser into your face with small circular motions using only your fingertips until the entire face covered with the cleanser. Avoid scrubbing, as this process can also lead to irritation.

Step 4: Rinse your skin with lukewarm water. Splash the warm water onto your face and gently remove any excess cleanser.

Step 5: Pat your skin dry

If you’re going to use a towel to dry your face, do it gently. Get a clean, lightweight, cotton towel (without a rough surface) and pat your face dry. Avoid using your facial towel for any other purpose as doing so can lead to the spread of bacteria and further breakouts. Hang the towel in a dry place and make sure that it is not exposed to any excess moisture.

Otherwise, swipe your hand across your cheeks and neck and remove the excess water.

Gently pat your skin with your hands to dry your face a little. Then continue with the next step of your skincare routine, by applying the product on damp skin.

That's all for today! See you in the next post!

Hope that you'd have a fun time washing your face, as always! Ski
